Mosquitos suck.
Yes-sir-ee, few things in life are more annoying than a swarm of mosquitos. My ankles and forearms may not recover till Thanksgiving, at which time I will be giving thanks for the killing frost that takes those suckers away till next June.

We like tea tree oil for the bites, although it smells to high heaven. I think it beats any concoction from the drugstore. I haven't yet found a repellent I like, though - what works for you?
If they're hungry, nothing works. I like a long sleeved shirt and hat sprayed with DEET, long pants tucked into my socks, and a head net if it's really bad. We have 6 different kinds of non-DEET sprays which are ok for mild days and which we use most, but we also have the standard OFF stuff, plus a can of 30% DEET for serious adult use. I believe we also have some permethrin (left over from Quinn's last trip to Africa) which can be used to treat clothing, although I've never used it.
Vermont hasn't had any West Nile virus so far this year, I think. Quinn was complaining about the mosquitos to a friend who is from Africa and she said, "Do these mosquitos carry malaria?" "Well, no." "Then what are you so worried about?" she wondered. I guess it's all in your perspective.
But, I'll tell you, they sure make it hard to enjoy a summer's evening.
