So Goes July

We finished out this action-packed month with an evening trip to the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History, dinner at the favorite local Peruvian chicken dive (the fabulously understated El Pollo Rico), a Fairfax adventure day with Grandma including "bark park" and the beautiful new library, the end of Camp Ladybug with friends and cousins, a nature walk at Burke Lake, and an invitation to a new friend's birthday party.

I trust that August will settle down some, but not before we entertain our first visitors: 2 groups of friends from Vermont. We are so excited!!

I'd love to hear more about those cutie sashes and badges from Camp Ladybug.

The whole idea came from the back page of Ladybug Magazine which L gets in the mail. They printed all these cute badges and suggested you could pin them on when you've done all the fun things (like catch a firefly, do a silly dance, camp in a tent, eat an ice cream sundae, etc.). S decided she wanted to put on a day camp for the cousins and two friends. She copied all the necessary badges for everyone and I made little sashes for 4 of them (two got booklets instead of sashes) and we hot-glued them on when they accomplished the activities. It was great. She'll make an excellent camp counselor/director someday!
