We spend several hours outside each day, and I love to see my boy- almost 2 and into throwing regular fits- peacefully following a "wishie" (aka milkweed seed) across the whole yard, picking it up when it gets stuck and helping it catch the wind again. I love to see the intricate fairy houses my girls construct and I admit (to you) that I am the source of all the glitter they find there when they come home from school. Blue and gold for boys, red and green for girls, and silver and other colors for the adults, I am told.
There's magic in the October yard.

I love love love the idea of the fairy glitter. That is so much fun. Yesterday it was fun to see Hilde play outside and collect Roly Polies bugs. Usually she is such a girlie girl and afraid of bugs, so it was fun to see her get dirty and carry bugs around for a change. Enoch and Isabel kept busy making rock piles.
Makes me want to move to Vermont, except for the seasons that are not so fun. Thank you for sharing such beauty with the world.
CY: You can come visit during the "good" ones!
Shells: roly-polie bugs were always my favorite. There was nothing scary about them because clearly they were more scared of me. I also liked wooly bear caterpillars and ladybugs. Praying mantises (manti?) were the SCARIEST thing ever... though I'm not sure why. We always screamed when we saw them.
I still have nightmares about praying mantises.
I love wishies. And October is a joy. Thanks for sharing part of your sweet world.
